The "Future Gateways Friendship Cup 2024", a youth football tournament involving the children from foreign diplomatic missions in China and their Chinese peers, was recently held in Beijing.

The children of diplomatic staff from Argentina, Cuba, Thailand, Mongolia, Uzbekistan and other embassies in China competed with dozens of Chinese teenagers in the football carnival.

Marcelo Suárez Salvia, ambassador of Argentina to China, spoke at the event and urged the young athletes to engage in the competition with passion and spirit, emphasizing the value of the experience over the outcome.

Describing football as a "universal language that unites people from all backgrounds," Ambassador Salvia encouraged all the youths who participated in the football match to use sports as a platform to deepen friendship, embrace principles of fairness and respect, and cultivate mutual understanding.
